(AgapePress) - A conservative black pastor and author says the lack of responsibility of many black men is angering some women and turning many children away from their fathers. | Jesse Lee Peterson |
Jesse Lee Peterson, founder of Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny, is the author of the recently released book Scam: How the Black Leadership Exploits Black America. In the book, Peterson says for years liberal black leaders have discouraged black men from marrying and taking responsibility for their families.
Peterson says many black men are following a precedent of parental irresponsibility. "Their fathers were not there for them while growing up -- not there to protect them and to provide," he says. And as a result, he points out, many of the women in the black community are becoming frustrated and responding by turning already estranged children against their fathers.
The conservative spokesman says this is perpetuating a destructive pattern. "When you turn the children away from their fathers, because of the spiritual order [God ordained for the family] you are setting up another generation to be angry," Peterson says.
The pastor encourages black mothers to forgive the fathers of their children and to avoid involving the children in any disputes so they can have a healthy relationship with their fathers and love both parents as God intended.
