'Culture of Death' Evident in Palestinian Children's Toys, Says Bauer

(AgapePress) - There's disturbing news out of the Middle East that seems to point to a culture of death among Palestinians.

Israeli supporter Gary Bauer says disturbing word has come from the Palestinian territory that helps explains why he thinks there can never be peace in the Middle East as it is known today. According to Bauer, the "big fad" among Palestinian children is to collect trading cards -- "not of football players or baseball players, but in fact of well-known terrorists and thugs," he says.

"In Bethlehem, Nablus, and Ramallah, Palestinian children are buying terrorist cards as fast as they can be printed -- six million sold in the last two years," Bauer says.

According to the conservative spokesman, Palestinian students are willing to spend every penny they have for the cards. Why? He quotes one analyst's explanation: "They are convinced that martyrdom is a holy thing, something worthy of the ultimate respect."

Bauer attributes the cards' popularity to the example set by terrorist leaders. "I think it's a reflection of the culture of death that Yasser Arafat and Islamic Jihad and the other groups have established in the territory for years now," he says. "As a result, they're producing generation after generation that thinks dying and martyrdom is the highest goal that one can aspire to."

He says it is the "ultimate handiwork" of Arafat that Palestinian children look up to murderers and are already mentally prepared to "kill the infidel." Consequently, he says, a Palestinian state "will inevitably be a dagger pointed at the heart of Israel and a breeding ground for terrorism."

Bauer had earlier reported that other popular toys among Palestinian children include plastic models of the burning World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon.
