(AgapePress) - A best-selling author says Americans should understand that the ongoing war against Islamic terrorism is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy and dates back some 4,000 years.Well-known author and theologian Dr. Hal Lindsey recently published a book entitled The Everlasting Hatred: The Roots of Jihad (Oracle House, 2002). In it, he points out that contemporary problems involving Israel, the Islamic World, and the West can be traced back to an age-old struggle that originated long ago between the progeny of the Jewish patriarch Isaac and his half-brother, Ishmael.
"We can look at the situation over in the Middle East right now. It's the ancient conflict between the descendants of Ishmael and Esau, and the descendants of Isaac -- the Arabs versus the Jews -- and this is something that's gone on for 4,000 years," Lindsey says.
The author explains that the contemporary world is already seeing how nearly all the nations of the Earth are inevitably being drawn into the battle between the biblical combatants' descendants.
"This is a conflict that prophecy talks about, coming to drag the whole world into involvement in it in the end," the end-times scholar says. "That's what we see developing right now, I believe. Almost the whole world has been drawn into this ancient conflict, whether we like it or not."
Lindsey has been warning people about the coming end of the age for decades. The purpose of Islamic fundamentalism, he says, is to uproot the Judeo-Christian world and establish an Islamic world order.
