(AgapePress) - A cancer survivor says God is allowing her to use her experiences battling the disease to help others improve their physical well being. When Dee Simmons was diagnosed with cancer in 1987, she began researching the role of nutritional supplements and diet in combating the disease. And what she learned led her to share her discoveries about natural healing with others.
In 1996, Simmons founded Ultimate Living, a Texas-based company that provides nutritional supplements and skin care products. Recently, as a guest on James Robison's television show Life Today, she noted that many Christians do not have a proper view of health and nutrition, and she says many fail to realize how important their lifestyle habits and nutritional choices are.

"The way they are usually convinced," Simmons says, "is either they have a disease ... or one of their loved ones [does]. Sometimes it has to come really close to home before it shakes us up enough to look back and say, 'You know, I don't need those 12 donuts every morning.'"But Simmons often finds that it is not easy to convince Americans, even Christians, that they need to take better physical care of themselves. "Tomorrow's health is built on what you do today," she says, "and it is going to catch up with us."
The health company founder has written a book called Ultimate Living: How to Triumph Over Cancer And Reclaim Your Life (Siloam Press, 1999) to help others diagnosed with life-threatening illness fight back.
Simmons notes that most Americans over age 40 have a degenerative disease such as arthritis or diabetes. And while she doubts most people would respond well to being given a complete nutritional program all at once, she says most people do want to be told what to do to improve their health.
