Phony Campus Diversity Movement Subject of Prof's Exposé

(AgapePress) - A conservative columnist and university professor has released a new book exposing the political correctness and anti-Christian bigotry he's encountered while teaching at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.The book by Dr. Mike Adams is called Welcome to the Ivory Tower of Babel: Confessions of a Conservative College Professor (Harbor House, 2004). It contains a journalistic narrative of how Adams become disillusioned with academia, and includes post-tenure editorials he wrote that satirize the moral relativism and one-sidedness of the campus diversity movement.
The book, says Walter Williams, distinguished professor of economics at George Mason University, gives parents, taxpayers, and donors a look at the "shameful rot that is all too common at many of our universities." Author David Limbaugh, commenting on the book, describes Adams as a "modern-day Jeremiah whose warnings we cannot afford to ignore." And Wendy Wright of Concerned Women for America says "every university needs a Mike Adams" who will challenge the "academic elite."
Adams, a criminology professor on the UNCW campus, says he is hopeful the book will encourage silent conservatives to get involved.
"I think this is written to inspire those conservatives and tell them that once they come out there -- the public is really thirsty for these wacky university stories -- if they like getting involved in writing and being involved with the media, they can get a measure of protection and a good, creative outlet," Adams says. "And I'm hoping that more people will, in fact, come out of the closet and join the movement."
A section of Adams' book also raises serious issues concerning the right to privacy and freedom of speech on college campuses. In addition, the book lets parents in on some of the shenanigans of school administrators. The author says parents need to be aware of what is taking place on college campuses.
"They need to look at the issue of the expenditures. They need to understand why many of their states have a massive budget deficit. They need to look at how fiscally irresponsible [universities have] been," he says.
Many parents of college students expect their children to "grow up" and mature in their ways while they are away at college -- but often, those young adults return changed in ways unexpected. "They come back and they have disregarded all the values that they were brought up with -- and [many parents wonder] why they've become radicalized," Adams says.
"This [book] is going to wake them up [and] kind of explain why some of these things are happening -- and hopefully get the attention of the public."
Adams says the culture war is being waged on university campuses more than anywhere -- and he enjoys being in the middle of it.
