(AgapePress) - A Nevada pro-family activist is voicing opposition to the formation of a Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club at another Reno high school.
The GSA at McQueen High School in Washoe County is currently drafting bylaws and seeking approval from the school's administration and the student council. Local homosexual activists claim the club will help promote more tolerance on campus, but Janine Hansen with Nevada Families Eagle Forum says it is dangerous to give children the message that homosexuality is anything but unhealthy.
Hansen contends that a GSA club is used essentially to promote the homosexual lifestyle -- and that when schools condone formation of such a club, it is signing a death warrant for the students.
"We are telling them that this is okay, and that there won't be serious consequences as a result of it," she says. "We are lying to our children when we do this."
The pro-family activist says parents need to wary of the goal of those supporting the GSA. "I believe the real agenda [of GSA clubs] is to recruit our children," she states. "You know, [homosexuals] don't reproduce except by artificial insemination or some other way -- or by adopting our children that [some agencies] are allowing them to adopt. So the real agenda is to openly recruit our children into this homosexual lifestyle."
Hansen is urging concerned parents to complain to their principal and school board members -- and that when election time rolls around, remember to vote for the school board candidates who support the sanctity of marriage. In 2002, Nevada overwhelmingly passed an initiative to keep marriage defined as only between a man and a woman.
