(AgapePress) - A new state petition seeks to prohibit the homosexual and transsexual indoctrination of children in California's elementary schools. The initiative would also ban such instruction in junior high and high school unless parents provide written permission.
Calling it a "much-needed" campaign for parent rights, a California family advocacy group has endorsed a petition drive aimed at curbing sexual indoctrination in that state's public schools. The "Civil Rights for Families" initiative is designed to place on the California ballot a measure to stop -- in the words of the Campaign for California Families -- "sexual indoctrination of schoolchildren behind their parents' backs."
CCF executive director Randy Thomasson says the pro-family initiative has teeth -- something necessary to combat the indoctrination process.

"The biggest, baddest gorilla in California's liberal politics is the California Teachers Association," Thomasson states. "They don't mind the sexual indoctrination of children, and if their controlled schools say 'Hey, look, forget the parental rights -- we're going to be pushing sexual indoctrination on the kids no matter what' -- guess what? This good initiative would say that these bad schools could be fined $5,000 per violation of parental rights."Thomasson explains that 450,000 signatures must be collected by Christmas -- a number he believes is "doable."
"The proponent of this particular initiative collected signatures for the Gray Davis recall, so the technology is there. If the will is there, this can be done," he says.
The CCF head adds that he is hopeful the state's citizens will back up their words with action. "People who complained about the sexual agenda attacking our children need to turn their words into actions," he urges, "and every Californian should sign the Civil Rights for Families petition online."
According to Thomasson, former Governor Gray Davis -- backed by a Democratic-controlled state legislature -- passed numerous laws that have created an environment in which children are subjected to "homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual indoctrination" in public schools. He says he is not sure if Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger would back the initiative, considering that he has signed several anti-family bills in the past few weeks.
