(AgapePress) - Defending the Christian faith in an anti-Christian culture -- that is the focus of an event planned for early next year in Florida.Answers in Genesis (AIG) is sponsoring the "Defending the Faith" winter conference at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The three-day event will feature a variety of speakers who are experts in apologetics.
Dr. Ken Ham, president of Answers in Genesis, says today's Christians need to be better prepared to defend their faith. "We wanted to run a conference that would reach out to Christian leaders and others who really want to know how they can get rid of contamination in the Church," as well as how to "defend the Christian faith and uphold the Bible's authority, beginning in Genesis."
Ham says AIG wants to help believers "know how to be equipped to answer the questions the world is asking so that we can tell the Church and the culture that we can trust the Bible. Its history is true, and that's why we can trust what it teaches concerning morality and the gospel."
The Florida gathering will expose attendees to two and a half days of intense apologetics educating and give them access to unique apologetics resources and training. The conference is designed to provide each participant with a better understanding of how to respond to the cultural crises of the day, such as abortion, same-sex "marriage," creation/evolution, and many other topical issues.
According to Ham, current statistics show the need for such intensive apologetics training. "Something like 80 percent of teenagers from church homes who go to public schools are walking away from the Church when they graduate," he points out. His hope, he says, is that pastors will direct parents to the kinds of resources being provided at "Defending the Faith" so they can use them to train and equip their children.
"This is a scientific age," the AIG spokesman says, "and people think that science has proved the Bible can't be trusted. I hope people go away from this conference saying 'Wow, you really can trust the Bible!' Science actually confirms the Bible's history."
The Defending the Faith Winter Conference takes place January 31 through February 2. Answers in Genesis is recommending the event for Christian husbands and wives, pastors, students, school teachers and professors, home-schooling families, and all others who want to learn to defend their faith more effectively in today's anti-Christian culture.
