Columnist to Catholic Parents: 'Avoid Sending Your Kids to Gonzaga'

(AgapePress) - A conservative columnist and university professor is accusing a Catholic law school of having "deplorable conduct" towards its Christian students. He says Gonzaga University "is committed to Catholic values like the KKK is committed to racial equality."
Dr. Mike Adams recently wrote an open letter, published on Townhall.com, to Gonzaga president Robert Spitzer, asking him why the university's law school has chosen to deny official recognition to a Christian pro-life group that required its executive leaders to be Christians. Spitzer has defended the decision, arguing the best way to approach the pro-life movement is from all different perspectives. Adams, a criminal justice professor at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, says that makes no sense at all.
"It especially makes no sense when you consider the fact that the university itself engages in religious discrimination," he charges. "For example, to be on certain boards [at Gonzaga], you have to be a Jesuit priest."
That, says Adams, is hypocritical. "They have religious discrimination at the university and pretend that they don't have it," he says, "and [they] pretend that they can't allow their students to engage in quote-unquote 'religious discrimination.'"
Adams notes that Gonzaga Law School has also failed to recognize the campus chapter of the Christian Legal Society because it would not sign a "non-discrimination" clause. In light of the school president's comment about approaching the pro-life issue from different perspectives, the UNC-Wilmington professor finds that odd.
"That rationale doesn't apply to the Christian Legal Society," Adams says. "The true situation is that you have a couple of Christian organizations that are being singled out and not being recognized while other university groups [are being recognized]. They're allowing pro-gay expression, pro-abortion expression, and various other points of view, which I think is simply an example of blatant hypocrisy."
Adams says if Catholic parents want to uphold their church's values, then they should avoid sending their children to Gonzaga.
