Parents Warned to Inquire About Pro-Homosexual Video Circulating in Schools

(AgapePress) - A non-union professional teacher's association is objecting to a so-called "tolerance" education video that has been distributed to more than 15,000 public school districts.
So far, more than 60,000 public elementary schools have received a copy of the "We Are Family" music video and an accompanying teacher's guide. The American Family Association and other conservative groups have warned that the tolerance video, which features popular children's characters such as Barney, Clifford, and SpongeBob Squarepants, is an attempt by homosexual activists to indoctrinate young kids into acceptance of their destructive lifestyle.
According to Tracey Bailey of the Association of American Educators, families should be aware that the "We Are Family" project is backed by pro-homosexual special-interest groups that have a targeted social agenda. He says the AAE is "concerned that the issues that are presented in this video may conflict with the approach that parents are using at home to teach their own children about respect and about other issues."
Bailey advises concerned parents to ask their principal if the video is being shown in their children's school. In addition, he notes, "they can also ask whether a teacher guide or some document is going to be used along with the video. If so, parents have a right to look at those documents to see the types of issues that are going to be discussed."
Parents have the right to know what sort of material is being presented at their child's school, the AAE spokesman points out. "They can ask, if they like, [whether] the issues of homosexuality or sexual orientation are going to be brought up," he says, "and if so, [parents] always have the right to exempt their son or daughter from those activities."
The AAE is a nonprofit, national professional association that works to address the problem of low public esteem for America's public school system and, according to its website, seeks to offer an alternative to "the partisan politics and non-educational agendas" of other national teachers' organizations.
