GFA's India Ministry Spreads Gospel Despite Persecution

(AgapePress) - Workers with Gospel for Asia continue ministering in northern India, in spite of severe persecution. In one village in that region, a GFA team was recently attacked during its screening of The Jesus Film, an evangelistic movie about the life of Christ; and each week, the ministry's officials receive several reports of similar attacks against Christian workers. Benny Moses, a pastor with GFA, says the Christian organization's missionaries and staff regularly pray for their persecutors. "Even if they beat us," he notes, "we'll be silent and pray for the people who are beating us."
Moses explains that their willingness to do this arises out of their Christian faith. He says, "We believe, like God had chosen [the Apostle] Paul when Saul was persecuting the churches, that the Lord will help these people to understand His love and grace, and they will also become like Pauls one day. That is our prayer." But in the meantime, Moses says the GFA missionaries request prayer for boldness in the face of such persecution.
The GFA minister points out that God's Word is being spread throughout India through a radio ministry produced by Gospel for Asia. He says the daily 15-minute radio program is broadcast through the cities and remote villages of India, and every month, GFA receives reports of actual miracles that are seen as the result.
For instance, Moses notes that GFA's radio speaker regularly prays for the sick, and many of the local Hindu people tune in, including many who desire healing. He says these people will "lay their hands upon the radio and just believe the power of God will come by his prayer."
When GFA workers gather for their Tuesday prayer meeting, Moses says they typically hear "at least 10 to 20 stories about how people have been healed by the radio ministry and prayer." The impact of the radio broadcasts are also revealed, the pastor adds, in the fact that the GFA offices receive 6,000 to 7,000 letters each month from listeners in India.
