As More Victims Surface, CWA Demands FDA Yank Deadly Abortion Drug

(AgapePress) - Wendy Wright of Concerned Women for America is trying to raise public awareness about the abortion drug RU-486, which she says continues to kill more than the unborn children its targets. As CWA persistently calls for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to withdraw its approval of Mifepristone, the pro-family spokeswoman says more adult victims -- women who died after taking it -- are being discovered. "Two more women have died after taking this drug," Wright points out. "That means five women total in the United States, that we know of." And she notes that four of these women died in California. She feels this could be significant, possibly indicating that more abortion-drug-related fatalities will be discovered since it has been suggested that in some areas around the U.S., deaths have not been documented because their medical examiner's offices are not as sophisticated as California's.

"It's very likely that more women have died after taking RU-486 in other states," Wright contends. "It's just not getting reported." She says many hospitals may not recognize that the use of RU-486 has been linked to an infection that can lead to septic shock and death in women who have taken the drug. "We are calling on the FDA to rescind it's approval of this very dangerous drug," the CWA spokeswoman says. "It kills one person -- that's the intent of it, [to kill] the unborn child -- and in many cases it's also killing the woman."
CWA has called the FDA's recent decision to strengthen the language on RU-486's warning label after reports of the abortion drug-related deaths began to emerge an "insufficient" response. The group continues to demand that the federal agency remove RU-486 from the shelves.
Wright says American women are trusting in the FDA to protect their health. If the FDA wants those citizens to continue in that trust, she says the regulatory agency should withdraw its approval of RU-486 "before more women die."
