(AgapePress) - - A New Jersey pro-family group is expressing outrage over a school board's decision to allow a 71-year-old teacher to return to the classroom after having a sex-change operation. The Eagleswood School District has decided to permit the transsexual teacher to continue working at the local elementary school, despite protests from parents who wanted the teacher fired or their children taught by someone else. According to Associated Press, the male teacher was married for 33 years and had three children, had "gender reassignment" surgery last year and reapplied for his job under a female name.
Len Deo, who heads the New Jersey Family Policy Council, says the school board is ignoring the best interests of children, and instead is opting for political correctness.
"Obviously a parent is much more concerned about their [sic] children, and are not concerned about political correctness," says the pro-family leader. "So therefore, if in fact they feel that there's some type of harm or danger that may be posed to their children -- even psychologically -- by this issue, they may have a case in court."
In fact, Deo's group is urging parents to file a legal challenge against the board's decision. He contends that young impressionable students should not be subjected to the concept of someone changing genders.
"For a young child [in the first or second grade] who has been taught by a particular teacher, and ... all of sudden that teacher [who] used to be a man ... now shows up in a skirt and feminine garb and has now transformed into a woman -- that's got to pose some great questions and stress for young children," he observes. "I think that's something that our school system should protect our children from, not encourage."
Deo believes the school board's approval of the transsexual teacher is a by-product of the growing push to normalize same-sex "marriage" and other immoral behavior.
