AFA Stands by Statements About Ford's Homosexual Agenda Support

by Ed Thomas
July 17, 2006

(AgapePress) - - Officials with Ford Motor Company Corporate and the American Family Association are disputing each other's claims. But AFA special projects director Randy Sharp says his group's statements about Ford, its advertising, and its homosexual agenda support are neither lies nor misinformation, but facts by which the pro-family group stands.

Sharp acknowledges that the automaker has been casting aspersions -- and doubt -- on AFA's statements about the company's leadership among automakers supporting homosexual activist causes. However, he says his organization's claims can stand up to any challenges, including legal ones.

The most recent challenge came this past Thursday in a Detroit Free Press article, in which a Ford executive said other companies spent more in "gay" media outlets and that Ford does not pander to just one cultural community with its advertising. But Sharp says AFA's position arises from the pro-family group's research of 15 months ago and since.

"Before the American Family Association called for the boycott, we made an extensive research project of finding out which American automaker was supporting homosexual causes with the greatest amount of money and number of donations to these organizations," the AFA official explains. In this study, he says, Ford came out "far beyond any other automaker."

In addition, Sharp points out that Ford made a perfect score on the 2005 Corporate Equality Index, a scale maintained by the pro-homosexual Human Rights Campaign and based on "how equitably companies are treating their gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers and investors."

Also, the special projects director notes, at the time of AFA's study, Ford was the top TV advertiser among automakers advertising with homosexual media, "sponsoring television shows that had, as primary or mainstream characters, homosexuals."

In the last year and a half since then, Sharp adds, other automakers have increased their "gay" advertising and pro-homosexual donations. Nevertheless, he says Ford has maintained its lead over them and has increased its financial commitment to the homosexual agenda.
