Bauer Sees Liberal-Conservative Debate Heating Up as Pelosi Moves In

(AgapePress) - - A former presidential candidate predicts a much more "emotional and vitriolic" debate will ensue between traditional conservatives and "San Francisco liberals" now that Democrats have gained control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
American Values president Gary Bauer says Republicans failed to get a populist message out in a number of Midwestern states like Indiana and Kentucky. It was as a result of this, he suggests, that Democrats won big in the House races.

Now that they have control of House committees, Bauer says, Democrats will be able to conduct a number of investigations. He notes that many of the very liberal committee chairmen -- Congressman Charles Rangel and others, for instance -- "have already promised that there will be subpoenas and White House officials will be dragged up to Capitol Hill to be run over the coals, et cetera." For this reason, the American Values spokesman observes, "I think our politics, while it might be hard to believe, are going to get even nastier over these next two years." Meanwhile, he says America can now expect a strong liberal agenda emanating from the House.
"You just can't get around the fact that the National Democratic Party is vehemently committed to abortion on demand and is in alignment with all of the demands of the radical gay rights movement," Bauer asserts. "So, even as some of the people being elected are conservative Democrats, when they get here, they will be required -- they'll be forced -- to go along with leaders like Nancy Pelosi."
Now that Democrats are running the show in the House, Bauer predicts that Americans can expect to see the usual level of tension between traditional conservatives and liberals to intensify as Pelosi's leadership begins to push debate in an extreme leftist direction.
