Faith-Based Films Coming Out on DVD

(AgapePress) - - Three faith-based films, released in theaters nationwide this past fall, are coming to DVD this month.

Love's Abiding Joy is a Michael Landon, Jr., film based on the fourth novel in the Love Comes Softly series from best-selling author Jeanette Oke. It is the fourth film installment in a series that chronicles the triumphant love story of young pioneers Missie and Willie Lahaye as they are challenged by grief, financial hardship, and deceit. Basically keeping with the series' family-friendly tone and overt Christian content, Love's Abiding Joy is a bit disappointing due to the inclusion of one mild profanity and a kissing scene between two unmarried teens -- elements not characteristic of the previous movies.

Rated PG for mild thematic elements, Fox Faith released Love's Abiding Joy on DVD and VHS earlier this month. The film is available at FoxFaith.com as well as through AmericanFamilyResourceCenter.com.

Also from Fox Faith comes One Night with the King, based on a novel by Tommy Tenney and Mark Andrew Olsen. The film is an adaptation of the Old Testament story of Esther in which the biblical narrative is filled in with a complex, but believable, tale of love and intrigue. The film is set to debut on DVD January 30. It is rated PG for violence, some sensuality and thematic elements.

Facing the Giants, a church-made film with a successful theatrical run, also comes to DVD January 30. It is a powerful movie about a Christian school's football team and its beleaguered coach, whose life and team are touched by the life-changing power of Christ.

The film opened in late September in 441 theaters and ranked 12th nationally and fourth in per-screen earnings. To date, more than 1.5 million people have seen the film. It is rated PG for some thematic elements and will be available at AmericanFamilyResourceCenter.com.
