(AgapePress) - - A spokeswoman with the American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) says the group will be more proactive this coming year when it comes to warning public school districts about the true agenda of pro-homosexual groups.
AFA of PA president Diane Gramley says it is time for concerned Christians to be on the offensive against organizations trying to advance the homosexual agenda in public schools. She, along with other pro-family advocates and volunteers, plans to educate officials about the pitfalls of partnering with pro-homosexual organizations.
Gramley says many public school administrators do not realize the dangers of working with homosexual activist groups such as the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) and Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). According to the AFA of PA website, these and other similar pro-homosexual groups encourage public schools to adopt "diversity" or "tolerance" curricula and programs that "are very biased and seek to normalize the homosexual lifestyle."
One of the AFA of PA's projects for this year will be "to contact all 501 school districts in Pennsylvania to alert them to GLSEN's and PFLAG's agenda," Gramley notes. She says her group will provide these districts with information about these groups' sexual indoctrination efforts and will also warn district officials "of the possible legal ramifications if students were to become involved in the homosexual lifestyle in direct response to the school's pushing of this agenda."
According to the AFA of PA president, pro-family taxpayers have every right to be concerned about the issue of public schools partnering with homosexual activists. "Whether we have students in the school district or not, we still pay our school taxes, and in Pennsylvania, that's a big chunk of taxes," she observes, "and we need to be aware of what our tax dollars are being used for."
Gramley says her group encourages pro-family citizens to look into whether schools in their local community are allowing the wrong message to be conveyed about homosexuality. As an investigative aid, the group recommends a tool called the Risk Audit Survey [PDF], which was developed by the Ohio-based Mission America ministry to help gauge the level to which the homosexual agenda is being promoted in schools.
