National Pro-Life Leaders Join With KS Legislator in Complaint Against Judge Clark

TOPEKA, Kans., (christiansunite.com) -- Kansas State Senator Tim Huelskamp has filed a formal complaint with the Kansas Commission on Judicial Qualifications (KCJQ) against Judge Paul W. Clark for failing to disclose on the record his financial ties to abortionist George R. Tiller's attorney Dan Monnat, and Sedgwick County District Attorney Nola Foulston while ruling in their favor. The financial links were first reported by Operation Rescue.

Sen. Huelskamp was joined in the complaint by a group of national pro-life leaders, including Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, Dr. Gary Cass, Executive Director of Reclaiming America, Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, Janet Folger, President of Faith2Action, Dr. Rick Scarborough of Vision America Action, and Phillip L. Jauregui, President of Judicial Action Group.

The complaint details events and irregularities that "raise substantial suggestions of partiality" on the part of Clark. While ruling to dismiss 30 criminal charges against Tiller, Clark failed on three occasions to disclose his funding relationships with Foulston, and Monnat.

The complaint states that Clark acted improperly when he did not disqualify himself from the Tiller case and asks for the KCJQ to "take appropriate disciplinary action, and thereby preserve and protect the public trust in the judicial system of the State of Kansas."

"Judges must be held to a high standard of ethics, and we believe that Clark violated those ethics by making a ruling that showed obvious partiality," said OR President Troy Newman. "The appearance of corruption has shaken the public confidence in the justice system. Americans from around the nation have come to question whether Kansas is currently capable of enforcing its own laws. Clark should be held accountable for his unethical actions in order for that confidence to be restored."

About Operation Rescue: Operation Rescue is one of the leading pro-life Christian activist organizations in the nation. Operation Rescue recently made headlines when it bought and closed an abortion clinic in Wichita, Kansas and has become the voice of the pro-life activist movement in America. Its activities are on the cutting edge of the abortion issue, taking direct action to restore legal personhood to the pre-born and stop abortion in obedience to biblical mandates.
