ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA (christiansunite.com) -- The family had fallen apart. Two children were living with an alcoholic father and Chahna, their mother who was tormented by an evil spirit. It looked like nothing could save this home. But Gospel for Asia native missionary Safal Raahi knew that God could transform it into something beautiful. Before Chahna became ill, she would go three times a week to her goddess's temple to offer sacrifices. She thought she was doing the right thing to follow in her family's tradition of trusting in the goddess, and she had a good life. She married a young man, and they had two children together.
Everything in Chahna's life seemed to be going well, until one day an evil spirit possessed her. The spirit began continually tormenting her, and Chahna lost all sense of peace in her life. Soon her health began to deteriorate too.
When Chahna's husband, Tuhin, realized his wife was very sick, he took her to the hospital for help. Several doctors examined Chahna, but none of them could diagnose the problem or offer any relief. So Tuhin took Chahna to some local witch doctors, but despite their rituals and incantations, nothing could make her well or free her from the grip of the evil spirit.
Every day, Chahna's health worsened, and Tuhin was consumed with worry about her condition. As Chahna's health continued to fail, Tuhin lost all hope for her healing and began drowning his sorrows in alcohol. Soon he was completely addicted.
When it seemed that this family would completely self-destruct, Safal came knocking on the family's door. He was doing his regular outreach in the village, and Tunil invited him into his home. Safal could tell that the family had many problems, so he read God's Word and shared the hope of the Gospel with them.
As Chahna listened to Safal, she became very interested in Jesus, and after a few days began feeling much better. Because of this encouragement, Chahna began visiting Safal's church. Seeing that she was in the bondage of evil spirits, the church spent a week in fasting and prayer, asking that she would be delivered. Chahna also began to pray to the Lord, and by the end of the week she was completely free from the spirits.
As a result of the miracle, Chahna trusted in Jesus for her salvation, and began deeply following His will for her life. When Tuhin saw the incredible transformation, he also trusted in Jesus, and found freedom from his alcohol addiction. Now their entire family regularly attends Safal's church, and faithfully follows the Lord.
Safal praises the Lord that this family, once on the verge of falling apart, is now whole in Christ. He also requests prayer that more people in the village will come to know the Lord through this event.
