The Ultimate Gift to Be Released On DVD

CENTURY CITY, CA (ANS) -- The award-winning family feature "The Ultimate Gift," which paired America's favorite young actress Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) and one of the nation's best loved actors, James Garner (Maverick), is set to be released to DVD on August 21st. "I enjoyed working on the film with such talented actors as James Garner and Drew Fuller," said Breslin, who skyrocketed to fame in the hit film "Little Miss Sunshine". "I like that the story focuses on the importance of friends and caring about others."
James Garner, who plays Jason's grandfather, Red Stephens, was also a fan of the film's message: "If you want to take your family to see a movie that will teach them about life lessons and the importance of character, this is the film to see."
The film, which won the coveted Crystal Heart Award at the Heartland Film Festival, and received the Dove Family Approved seal from The Dove Foundation, has been praised by numerous critics. Described as "irresistible" (Baltimore Sun), "uplifting" (The Boston Globe), "endearing" (Charlotte Observer), "finely crafted" (Movieguide®) and Breslin's performance as "captivating " (Washington Post); the film follows Jason Stephens (Drew Fuller), a spoiled and selfish young adult on a mission to complete 12 tasks, or "gifts", in order to collect on an inheritance left to him by his wealthy grandfather (James Garner). Jason's journey becomes one of self-discovery and forces him to consider what is truly important in life.
Sharing the name of the best-selling novel written by Jim Stovall, the film was released theatrically by 20th Century Fox in March and inspired viewers across the nation. The screenplay was written by Cheryl McKay, a 1995 graduate of Regent University, founded by broadcaster Pat Robertson.
DVD special features will include an introduction by author Jim Stovall, a behind the scenes featurette, cast and crew interviews, Leave a Legacy(r) PSA with Bill Cobbs, "Something Changed" music video by Sara Groves, and the "Legacy" music video by Ed Goggin.
