Upcoming March on Washington Should Not Forget the Youngest Victims of Violence Says Dr. Alveda King

ATLANTA, (christiansunite.com) -- A civil rights march on the Justice Department this Friday should not forget the youngest victims of apparent racial bigotry said Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life, in a statement today.

"As Reverend Al Sharpton and others gather in Washington, DC to request federal intervention in local cases of racial discrimination, I urge them not to forget the most overlooked black victim in our nation, the unborn baby," said Dr. King, niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"For years, millions of black babies have been aborted at an alarmingly disproportionate rate while leaders at the national level remain silent. Women and men are hurting because of abortion. The blood of millions of innocent babies is drenching our fire scorched, barren streets," added Dr. King.

"Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said that 'injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.' Racism in any form is unjust. It's time that we as a nation examine why it is that the African American community has been devastated and decimated not only by the racist acts involving nooses, but also the racist 'womb lynching' evident in the abortion industry," concluded Dr. King. "We must speak out against discrimination and violence against everyone, especially that which targets the most helpless and innocent among us."

Priests for Life is the nation's largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia. For more information, visit www.priestsforlife.org.
