TOPEKA, Kans., (christiansunite.com) -- Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison announced his resignation on Friday amid increased public pressure after details surfaced earlier in the week of his illicit affair with a subordinate and alleged attempts to use that relationship to influence abortion investigations. Morrison's resignation will become effective on January 31, 2008."We want to thank our tens of thousands of supporters who responded to our call on Tuesday for e-mails calling for Morrison to step down," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "We want you to know that your voices added to the mounting public pressure that resulted in Morrison's resignation."
"Kansans are weary of corruption and the appearance of impropriety over abortion investigations. Gov. Sebelius must understand that any replacement for Morrison simply cannot be another political crony who is beholden to the abortion cartel," said Newman. "We urge Gov. Sebelius return integrity to the Attorney General's office by appointing someone who is above reproach and whose pocketbook does not have strings to abortion blood money."
