LOS ANGELES, (christiansunite.com) -- Back in the immoral age of comics, Christian comedians seemed out of place in any other venue besides a church. In the past, most secular comedians who were also Christian preferred not to be labeled as such because clean comedy was perceived not funny and ignored by the secular entertainment industry.Enter Ron Pearson, a Christian who is explicit about his faith yet is one of the top secular comics in the business. The award-winning Pearson has forged a career that includes scene stealing roles and guest spots on some of the biggest sitcoms on network television including The George Lopez Show, That 70's Show, The Drew Carey Show, Malcolm & Eddie, among others. He is also in high demand in television warm up comedy, late night talk shows and is a favorite at corporate and Christian events. Pearson is that rare performer who is as at home playing characters on television as he is performing comedy to a church audience and his range has garnered him a loyal fan base.
Pearson's latest project, Apostles of Comedy; The Movie, is a masterpiece that's sure to set a new trend in both the Christian and secular comedy world. The film fuses 4 award - winning comedians that spotlights not only the quirks but explores their private lives as they share their journeys of love, faith, hope and forgiveness. You'll see famed comedians Pearson, Anthony Griffith, Brad Stine and Jeff Allen as you've never seen them. In documentary fashion, the film provides an informative glance into the lives and careers of four of comedy's biggest and most inspirational comedians today.
"There really is a void out there of comedy that is uplifting," says Pearson. "This film features quality comedy that is not dumbed down at all, but is also something the entire family can enjoy. There is a culture war going on for the soul of this country right now. And while we may not win every battle, hopefully quality projects like this will stand-up against any secular counterpart out there."
There's no doubt laughter is the best medicine. And Apostles of Comedy; The Movie is sure to give viewers a hefty dose of it with the nationwide September 9, 2008 release.
Apostles of Comedy; The Movie will be released on DVD by First Look Studios. First Look Studios is a leading independent studio which includes its theatrical, home video and television operations. The studios' CEO is Trevor Short and Dean Wilson is COO. The company is owned and operated by First Look Holdings, LLC.
