The New York Times' P.C. Reluctance to Apply 'Terrorist' Label

WASHINGTON, (christiansunite.com) -- Boycott The New York Times editor Don Feder today described New York Times public editor Clark Hoyt's op-ed in the Sunday paper, which attempted to justify the paper's practice of "Separating the Terror and the Terrorists," as "a nauseating example of the paper's moral relativism applied to the war on terrorism."

"If you can't call someone who kills a five-year-old girl to advance a political cause a terrorist, how do you describe them?" Feder wrote in a commentary posted at BoycottNYT.com.

Hoyt noted that if Palestinians murder an Israeli civilian within the 1948 borders of Israel, they are described as terrorists. But if they commit the same atrocity in territory Israel acquired after 1967, The Times refuses to call the perpetrators terrorists.

Hoyt further explained that the paper does not call Hamas a terrorist group because "Hamas was elected to govern Gaza," and "it provides social services and operates charities, hospitals and clinics."

Feder responded, "The National Socialists were elected to govern Germany. Does that mean the Holocaust wasn't a crime against humanity? If Al- Qaeda ran hospitals and clinics, would that make it something other than a terrorist gang?"

Feder charged, "While The Times may be appalled by terrorists' acts, it frequently agrees with their goals."

In an interview with Michael Savage on his highly rated radio show "The Savage Nation" on Friday, Feder observed, "We'll never win the war on terrorism as long as the mainstream media is allowed to define the terminology." The interview can be accessed at www.boycottnyt.com.
