WASHINGTON, (christiansunite.com) -- Today the Susan B. Anthony List announced a new executive staff addition and the launch of a new initiative. Former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO) will lead the Susan B. Anthony List's new Votes Have Consequences initiative, a grassroots mobilization and voter education effort in targeted Congressional districts and key states nationwide. The initiative will be formally unveiled at the organization's Campaign for Life Dinner -- a sold-out event being held tonight in downtown Washington.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of the Susan B. Anthony List, released the following statement:

"At a point in history when political 'education' includes lies and distortions which attack candidates personally instead of their policy stands, it is critical that pro-life communication to voters about their representatives be constant and clear and honest. That is exactly what the Susan B. Anthony List intends to implement -- our efforts will be early, aggressive and in a targeted fashion. Continuing pro-life trends among women and the nation as a whole make this education all the more critical."

Jane Abraham, General Chairman of the Susan B. Anthony List, released the following statement:

"The Votes Have Consequences initiative is a natural extension of the Susan B. Anthony List's mission to advance, mobilize and represent pro-life women in the political process. We know that when women vote, they vote pro-life. But if we learned anything in 2008, it's that we need to work early and often to raise the salience of the Life issue in the public discourse and among voters. The time to go on offense is now. We know this initiative will make a real difference by setting the record straight and engaging grassroots activists in targeted districts nationwide."

Former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, Susan B. Anthony List's Project Director for the Votes Have Consequences program, released the following statement:

"Under the new administration and Congress, pro- lifers have constantly been on the defensive. An aggressive, strategic effort to educate pro-life voters early and often is long overdue. This is a new day in politics for the pro-life movement. We're going to be assertive, strategic and focused in our efforts to elevate the cause of Life at the grassroots level, where it matters."

The Susan B. Anthony List Project will implement Votes Have Consequences in targeted districts across the country by fall of 2009. A transcript from today's Press Conference Call announcing the project will be available after 1:00PM EST at www.newsguests.com.

The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of Americans, over 152,000 residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
