MEDIA ADVISORY, (christiansunite.com) -- A few years ago the world stood by and watched as a young woman was starved and dehydrated to death. As the mother of an adult son, I can't imagine the devastation Terri Schiavo's parents must have felt. How heartbreaking--to be forbidden to give your daughter water, food--the very basics for survival and then have no other choice but to stand by her bedside to watch her die.I think about my own father who passed away 5 years ago. When we were young, his main goal was to provide for his wife and children. Later when we were adults, he was still there doing whatever was needed to lend a supportive and loving hand--many times he saved the day.
My point is, parenting changes as children grow up, but it never really ends and I could see in Robert Schindler's very sad eyes that Terri was still his beautiful little girl and it broke his heart that he was unable to save her.
That is why more than any other time we must act now. We must raise our voices to protect those who are not able to speak for themselves. We must fight to protect all human beings from conception to natural death. No one should ever be killed because they are merely meeker, weaker, unwanted or less than perfect.
My condolences and prayers go out the Schindler family. May GOD comfort you in your sorrow.
Together in CHRIST, Day Gardner
