Abortion and Healthcare: Are Most US Bishops Muzzled by Obama and Uncle Sam?
September 25, 2009
WASHINGTON, (christiansunite.com) -- On Wednesday, September 23, a dozen Catholics rallied outside the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) headquarters in Washington DC. Their plea was for US Bishops -- individually -- to be clear and forceful in their condemnation of HR 3200, and the Senate amendments that clearly provide for child-killing by abortion.
A counter-protest was held by a left wing Catholic group, Catholics United, calling for the immediate passage of the Health Care Bill.
While there, the pro-lifers filmed a new street theatre skit, showing a Bishop receiving money -- then a gag -- from Obama, so that the bishop will not fight abortion in the health care bill.
Mr. Terry, Founder, Operation Rescue, and others present spoke at length with Sister Mary Ann Walsh, Director of Media Relations for the USCCB. The discussions were polite, but showed just how out of touch the USCCB -- and Media Relations director -- are to current political realities.
Randall Terry States: "While some Bishops fought valiantly and openly against Obama's election, most did not. While some Bishops speak publically and forcefully against child-killing in the 'health care bill;' most do not.
"Two things are certain: Hundreds of Catholic Hospitals receive millions of dollars from the federal government. And most bishops have agreed to be muzzled by the 501(c)3 tax exempt status.
"Some of the faithful who see this video will yell, 'Amen!' Others will claim they are offended. We let the truth of this video speak for itself. God save our bishops. God save His Church."
Also: New service initiated for the faithful: a lay Catholic can fax a 1 page personal letter to every bishop in America for 18 cents per fax in minutes.
MR. Terry States: "Many of our bishops need to hear from the faithful -- that we WANT them to be heroic for the Faith. This is a great tool to respectfully present our hearts to the bishops and their staff."
