WASHINGTON, (christiansunite.com) -- Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced their endorsement of Doug Hoffman, Conservative Party candidate for Congress in the upcoming special election for New York's 23rd Congressional District."The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund is proud to endorse Doug Hoffman for Congress," said Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund. "He will be a passionate advocate for women and the unborn who will reflect the growing pro-life views of his district and the country. As we face the greatest threat since Roe v. Wade, abortion mandates in health care reform, Congress needs Doug's pro-life leadership."
Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund endorsements are publicized to the organization's members, who will be encouraged to donate to the Hoffman Campaign. The SBA List Candidate Fund supports pro-life female candidates, as well as pro-life male candidates who run against female candidates in favor of abortion rights.
"It's gravely disappointing that the Republican Party chose to nominate a candidate whose position flies in the face of the actual pro-life party platform," said Dannenfelser. "Dede Scozzafava's support for the extreme abortion agenda is out of step with New York's 23rd District. She already embraced the Planned Parenthood abortion on-demand agenda in the New York State Legislature, and they awarded her their Margaret Sanger Award. Dede Scozzafava is an abortion radical who does not represent the views of the growing majority of pro-life American women. The lives of women and their unborn babies are on the line, and the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund is ready to defend them at the ballot box in New York and across the country."
The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund is named for the nation's famous suffragist, who opposed abortion, calling it "child murder." Her fellow suffragist, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, once remarked, "When we consider that women are treated as property, it is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed of as we see fit."
The Special Election in New York's 23rd Congressional District is scheduled to be held on November 3, 2009. The election will fill the vacancy left by Rep. John McHugh, who was recently confirmed by the Senate as President Obama's new Secretary of the Army.
The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of over 162,000 Americans, residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
