WASHINGTON, (christiansunite.com) -- Today the Catholic Families for America PAC, a national pro-family political action committee, announced their endorsement of Doug Hoffman, Conservative Party candidate for Congress in next week's special election for New York's 23rd Congressional District. In the final week of the campaign, the CFA will be focusing on outreach to Catholic voters in the district.
"The Catholic Families for America PAC is honored to endorse Mr. Hoffman," said Dr. Kevin Roberts, executive director of the group. "He has shown, through his family life and business experience, an impressive commitment to pro-family positions on every important issue facing Americans. Doug Hoffman's strong pro-life stance, coupled with his common-sense approach to tax policy, will make him a friend of American families who are withstanding an onslaught of liberal policies today."
Catholic Families for America endorsements are publicized to members of the group, who will be encouraged to support the Hoffman candidacy financially. Furthermore, with a significant proportion of the district's voters being Catholic, CFA will promote Catholic voter turnout in the final days of the campaign.
"As a lifelong Republican, I am horrified that my party chose such a pro-choice activist as its nominee. No Republican candidate for Congress should ever 'earn' the Margaret Sanger Award, as Ms. Scozzafava has," Roberts contended. "Furthermore, on the important issue of gay marriage, Scozzafava has proven how out of step she is with the district and with the party."
CFA was founded in 2008 in response to 54 percent of self-identified Catholic voters supporting the most pro-abortion presidential candidate in American history. Gearing up for the 2010 midterm elections, Catholic Families for America is searching for strong, pro-family candidates like Doug Hoffman whom it can support and promote with its Catholic voter outreach model.
The special election in NY-23 will be held next Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The election will fill the vacancy left by Rep. John McHugh, who was recently confirmed by the Senate as President Obama's new Secretary of the Army.
