NEW YORK, (christiansunite.com) -- In a tense atmosphere of growing uncertainty over the future of Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel, Christian and Jewish leaders will convene in Manhattan on May 13, 2010 for the Jerusalem Prayer Banquet. This show of solidarity demonstrates a collective commitment to continued friendship and future peace despite growing global pressures on the Jewish State.Event Co-chair Rev. Dr. Robert Stearns states, "There has never been a more critical time in our nation's history for people of faith to express their unity with Israel and support for Jerusalem, and to declare: We are with you; we are with you; we are with you. And we will not be silent."
Joining Dr. Stearns at the event are two extraordinary leaders whose lives have served Israel: Dr. M.G. "Pat" Robertson and Mr. Irwin Hochberg, who will both be honored for their service by the establishment of scholarships which will send college students to Israel as part of the Israel Experience Program. These young leaders will gain firsthand knowledge of the facts on the ground in Israel, and will return to their campuses as educated, articulate ambassadors, who will be a voice for Israel and our shared values in these troubled times. In praise of the initiative, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu states, "I am very excited about young, Christian Americans coming to Israel. The experience will be indelibly etched in their minds and hearts."
The evening will include an address from Israeli Ambassador Asaf Shariv. Prominent members of the Host Committee include Robert Stearns, Jack Hayford, Harvey Krueger, Michael Little, Robbie Rothenberg, Frederick KC Price, Ziel Feldman, Carlos Campo, Jay Sekulow, and Pat Boone.
This timely and important gathering will be held at the illustrious Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York's celebrated East Side. The event is poised to make a powerful statement in New York City, home to the world's largest Jewish population outside of Israel. People from all walks of life are going to the heart of the city that never sleeps, and declaring that they will not rest, nor will they give God any rest until He establishes and makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth (see Isa 62:6,7).
