Reno-NV., (christiansunite.com) -- Tim Macy, Vice-Chairman of the Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund, said Wednesday that they were endorsing Sharron Angle (R-NV) as their choice for the Nevada GOP Primary. Angle, a conservative former four-term Nevada Legislator, is campaigning for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Harry Reid (D-NV).
"Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Sharron Angle," said Macy. "Sharron has been a true friend of the Second Amendment, never wavering in her defense of the right to keep and bear arms."
"Senator Reid has proven that he is no friend of Nevada's gun owners, and no friend of the Constitution," Macy continued in a statement that was critical of the Majority Leader's participation in securing the confirmations of President Obama's "left-wing radical nominees to the highest positions of power" which included Attorney General Eric Holder and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor among others. "As Majority Leader, Reid could have objected to any and all of these nominees and insisted that the president put forth men and women who respected the Second Amendment."
Macy put a statement on their website encouraging members to contribute generously to Angle's U.S. Senate campaign. "Sharron Angle is just the kind of 'change' Washington needs right now," Macy wrote. "Over her eight years in the Nevada legislature, Sharron stood 100% in favor of the Second Amendment and was a steadfast leader in protecting the constitutional liberties of all Nevadans."
Angle spokesperson Jerry Stacy said Angle deserved the endorsement. "Not only is Mrs. Angle unafraid of guns, but she is also unafraid to stand up against those who would attempt to deny the legal rights of other gun owners. Mrs. Angle knows that gun ownership is a constitutional right, and gun owners know that they can depend on her to protect their rights."
Latest independent polling shows that Angle leads Reid by double digits.
