LANSDOWNE, Va., (christiansunite.com) -- Care Net joined the Oklahoma state legislature today in praising the work of pregnancy centers in the Sooner State. On May 6th, the Oklahoma House of Representatives passed (90-0) the "Joint Resolution Honoring Pregnancy Care Centers." The Oklahoma State Senate had also passed the resolution in March. Oklahoma is the second state this year after Virginia to pass the pregnancy center resolution, a model of which was drafted by Americans United for Life (AUL)."It's a joy to watch our nation's growing enthusiasm about the work of pregnancy centers," said Care Net President Melinda Delahoyde. "The more you know about the compassionate outreach of pregnancy centers to women facing unplanned pregnancies, the more you want to cheer on this amazing work. Care Net celebrates with the Oklahoma pregnancy centers as they receive this recognition for their tremendous service to the women and men of their state."
Delahoyde thanked the bill sponsors, Rep. Sally Kern and Sen. Dan Newberry, as well as AUL, for their leadership on behalf of pregnancy centers. "Care Net is so grateful for those who continue to come alongside to champion the quiet, life-saving work of pregnancy centers."
"The praise that pregnancy centers are receiving for their life-affirming impact on the women, families, and communities they serve is well-deserved and long- overdue," remarked Denise M. Burke, Vice President of Legal Affairs with Americans United for Life and the author of the resolution. "We look forward to working with more states to adopt this important resolution and to further support the critical work of pregnancy centers."
