MADISON, Wis., (christiansunite.com) -- As the Dalai Lama tours the United States, he promotes false Tibetan Buddhist beliefs. After spending time in the Midwest, the Dalai Lama will be in New York for a series of meetings, ending with the Interfaith Dialogue on May 23 in New York City.
A champion of human rights in China, the Dalai Lama was forced to leave Tibet after China invaded the country. He fled and established a Tibetan government- in-exile in India.
While his stand against the Chinese government is admirable, his Buddhist beliefs have to be questioned from a Christian point of view. The Dalai Lama claims to be the reincarnated 14th Dalai Lama and many call him 'His Holiness'.
Tibetan Buddhism teaches reincarnation. However, the Bible teaches that reincarnation is not a possibility. The Bible clearly teaches that there is one life and then comes judgment.
According to the Handbook of World Religions by Len Woods, Tibetan Buddhists "embrace animistic occult practices and pantheon of deities of ancient Tibet. Guided by reincarnated spiritual authorities called lamas, Tibetan Buddhism uses the The Tibetan Book of the Dead as a guide to seeking enlightenment and ending the cycle of rebirth."
Also, Tibetan Buddhists believe in pantheism or oneness, a belief that is prevalent in Hinduism also. Pantheism is the belief that the universe is God and there is no distinction between creator and creation.
That is why Tibetan Buddhists push mindless meditation. By doing this practice, they believe that people will realize their divinity and this will eliminate strife. These meditation practices are becoming very popular in the United States, even in Christian circles.
ChristianInvestigator.com President Steve McConkey says "Christians need to teach the truth in their churches and not be afraid to mention different false beliefs by name in order to help people have clarity during these shifting times."
