OVERLAND PARK, Kan., (christiansunite.com) -- Bott Radio Network is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Steve South to their executive management team as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Business Development.

A graduate of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, with a Bachelor of Science in advertising and journalism, South brings with him a wealth of broadcast management experience, including nine years with the San Francisco based television broadcasting division of Chronicle Publishing Company. During that time, Steve served with distinction as Vice President and Station Manager of Chronicle's three Kansas ABC affiliate stations: KAKE-TV in Wichita, KUPK-TV in Garden City, and KLBY-TV in Colby.

With South at the helm, KAKE-TV in Wichita was named twice consecutively as "Station of the Year" by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and received the Edward R. Murrow National Award for "Overall Excellence" given once a year to only two stations nationally. In addition, Steve served as President of the Wichita Broadcasters Association and as a member of the Executive Board of the Kansas Association of Broadcasters.

Following the sale of Chronicle's television stations, South spent several years as General Sales Manager at KTNV-TV Las Vegas, an ABC affiliate, and most recently he served seven years as a Marketing Consultant for Time Warner Cable Advertising. South's experience includes 17 years of executive broadcast management experience and an additional 12 years of media marketing and sales experience.

As Chief Operating Officer and Director of Business Development, South will participate in setting policy for Bott Radio Network and manage the day-to-day operations. He will work directly with all regional managers and department heads. South also will be actively involved in developing partnership opportunities with business sponsors across Bott Radio Network.

The hiring of Steve South comes amid some important recent organizational developments at Bott Radio Network. In January 2010, Rich Bott was promoted from Executive Vice President to the position of President and CEO. Founder Dick Bott continues to serve as Chairman of the Board.

"We are delighted to welcome Steve South to our executive management team," Rich Bott, President/CEO of Bott Radio Network, said recently. "He has built his career on valuing people, teamwork, integrity, and results. We are confident that this, combined with his extensive experience and knowledge, will help drive our future growth and service at Bott Radio Network."

Steve South and his wife, Linda, returned to the Kansas City area several years ago to be near family. "Linda and I are thrilled to be associated with Bott Radio Network. BRN has played a vital role in the development of our faith over the past 30 years. We left the Kansas City market for 17 years for broadcast management positions, and we were so fortunate that Bott Radio Network was broadcasting in almost all of the markets where we lived. The consistent guidance from quality Bible teaching found on BRN is one we are honored to represent," South commented.

Steve is active in his local church and volunteers his time to mentor prisoners at Lansing State Prison in association with Chuck Colson's Prison Fellowship Ministry.

With headquarters in Kansas City, Bott Radio Network is recognized as a national leader in Christian broadcasting. For more than 48 years, Bott Radio Network has featured America's finest Bible teachers and Christian news and information programs to help people grow in the Lord and apply their faith in their daily lives. Bott Radio Network stretches across the United States from California to Tennessee, with a focus on the heart of America.
