WASHINGTON, (christiansunite.com) -- Today the Susan B. Anthony List announced its endorsement of Florida State Representative Sandy Adams, candidate for U.S. House of Representatives in Florida's 24th District."Florida families deserve the pro-life feminine leadership Sandy Adams has already demonstrated in so many roles," said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "Her outspoken commitment to rescinding taxpayer funding of abortion in health care is urgently needed in the next Congress."
"While Sandy Adams has introduced life-saving legislation and exhibited outstanding pro-life feminine leadership, EMILY's List favorite Suzanne Kosmas has voted in lock-step with the pro-abortion Obama-Pelosi administration. This race embodies the mission of the Susan B. Anthony List: a pro-life woman challenging a woman who pushes the pro-abortion agenda. Adams has already demonstrated her strong determination to be a vocal advocate for women and unborn children in abortion debates on the floor of the Florida State Legislature, much as she has for her entire career," Dannenfelser said.
Sandy's leadership record began at an early age when, at 17, she joined the U.S. Air Force. Once a single parent working two jobs, seven days a week, she became an investigator for the Orange County Sheriff's Office in 1985. Over the next several years, Sandy served as Chair of the Orange County Legislative Delegation and is currently Chair of the Seminole County Legislative Delegation. She was first elected to the Florida House in 2002 and has been re-elected in each election since.
In the state legislature, Sandy sponsored the Florida Healthcare Freedom Act which would allow Floridians to opt out of the federal health care system and has campaigned heavily on her opposition to the federal health care takeover. Among several other current committee assignments, Sandy is a member of the Full Appropriations Council on General Government and Health Care.
Sandy will face freshman Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas in the November general election. Kosmas has been endorsed by the pro-abortion EMILY's List and currently holds a 0 percent voting record with the NRLC, including votes in favor of taxpayer funding of abortion in the health care reform bill and against the pro-life Stupak-Pitts Amendment to prohibit federal funding of abortion.
The Susan B. Anthony List plans to spend $6 million on voter education in the midterm elections, including $3 million on key Senate races. The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of over 280,000 Americans, residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
