HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., (christiansunite.com) -- In Haiti they have a saying: "A hungry stomach has no ears." It describes the hungry schoolchildren and their inability to focus on their education due to hunger pains. Bright Hope wants to change that by feeding children one warm meal every school day to 2,950 kids as a part of their ongoing feeding program. By providing a fortified rice, protein, and vegetable meal, these children can focus on their education instead of fighting the pain of hunger. To begin this life-changing transformation in Haiti, Bright Hope will host a food packing event from January 12-15, 2011 at the Bright Hope Center. The goal is to pack food for 212,000 meals for children in 17 Haitian schools. 1,000 volunteers are needed to pack food over the 4 days. There are 10 "high energy" sessions to choose from, with each lasting 2 hours. A free-will offering will be collected during each food packing event to help provide for the cost of the food. A special candlelight memorial service will be held immediately after the Wednesday, January 12th session to commemorate the one year anniversary of the devastating Haiti earthquake.
"We have a real, hands-on effort happening right here in Hoffman Estates that will give our volunteers a chance to directly feed hungry children in Haiti," states Craig Dyer, President of Bright Hope. "With the help of volunteers, no child in this program will have to go hungry," he added.
