International Group Has Rescued Haitian Orphans

MEDIA ADVISORY, (christiansunite.com) -- Since the earthquake, Kids Alive International has tripled the number of children in their homes in Haiti. Located in Cap-Haitien, the Kids Alive facilities were not damaged during the earthquake and have become a place of safety and hope for the children.

When the earthquake struck, Kids Alive immediately responded providing food, water, fuel, and other supplies from the Dominican Republic to those in need in the greater Port au Prince area. Kids Alive now provides meals and education to over 120 community kids, in addition to those benefitting from 24/7 care in their residential homes.

Children impacted by the earthquake have come to the Kids Alive's family style residential homes. With Haitian house parents, children not only have their basic needs for food, shelter and education met, but they also will grow up in a positive, caring environment. A video about the changes in these children's lives can be watched at KidsAlive.org/Haiti-Relief.

"We love these kids and even as we look after their immediate needs for safety, shelter and physical well being, we also provide loving house parents and a real home environment in order to meet their emotional needs as well," Al Lackey, President of Kids Alive, said. "We take on the care of these children for the long term, and will be providing education for them, giving them stability and a hope for the future even as they struggle with the loss of their parents."

Rented homes temporarily handle the increase of children in the Kids Alive programs. But land has been purchased and construction begun on a new Children's Village. This will become home to almost 100 orphaned and abandoned children, serve as a central location for community outreach, and, as the children get older, provide transition housing to help them become successful adults within their community.

Additionally, Kids Alive has begun to provide care for the boys from the former Project Pierre Toussaint in Cap-Haitien. The new Haiti Boys' Care Center will provide meals, education, tutoring and counseling to over 80 street boys, giving them a second chance.

Currently serving thousands of children around the world, Kids Alive provides the love and care every child deserves, and raises them to be contributing members of their society. In addition to residential homes, Kids Alive also provides care centers, schools and medical clinics for families and children in need, not only rescuing children but also restoring communities.

Donations to the long term care for these Haiti orphans can be made at www.kidsalive.org/haiti-relief. Kids Alive has the highest credibility ratings from GuideStar, CrossGlobal Link, Charity Navigator and the ECFA. Kids Alive is also an accredited 501(3) organization under the Internal Revenue code so all gifts are tax deductible.
