WASHINGTON, (christiansunite.com) -- The War on Illegal Pornography announced today that U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R. UT) and U.S. House Representatives Mike McIntyre (D. NC) and Randy Forbes (R. VA) have begun enlisting signatories to a letter addressed to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder urging that the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) vigorously prosecute major producers and distributors of illegal adult pornography.

"The nation is flooded with illegal adult pornography in almost every medium which is providing fuel to the fire of child pornography, destruction of marriages and families, addiction of children and adults, and an increase in sex trafficking, yet the U.S. Department of Justice has not indicted any distributers of such material in the past two years," said Patrick Trueman, Morality in Media CEO and former chief of the Department's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section.

The letter to General Holder states, in part that: "(A)dult obscenity is not protected by the First Amendment. Congress has for decades passed laws seeking to curb production and distribution of obscene pornography, including on the Internet. A consistent and strong commitment to enforcing these laws can have a significant impact."

Trueman noted that the Coalition for the War on Illegal Pornography has notified more than two million Americans of the lack of federal prosecutions, urging them to contact their U.S. House and Senate Members to sign the letter to the Attorney General. They are urged to go to bit.ly/e1A7BJ to contact them. The letter to the Attorney General may be found here: bit.ly/gv489r.
