CBN Founder Says Christians Need to Get Educated, Get Involved

(AgapePress) - Not one to back away from controversy on matters of faith and freedom, Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson has some advice for believers on two hot topics: the religion of Islam and judicial tyranny.
Robertson, the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network, says there are many differences between Islam and Christianity -- and those who follow Christ, he adds, need to be educated about the true principles of the Muslim religion. For example, the televangelist points out that the Quran calls for the murder of those who do not convert to Islam -- while Christians are admonished to share Christ with people and leave the results up to God.
"We would never think that somebody should be coerced into accepting the Lord," Robertson says. "I think faith is an intensely personal experience between an individual and God -- it's not something that should be coerced, ever."
Robertson says no matter what some elected officials say -- including President Bush -- Islam is not a peaceful religion.
And in the midst of judicial rulings favoring such things as homosexual "marriage," sodomy, and the removal of God from the public arena, Robertson says Christians need to let their elected officials know that they are fed up with the disregard that many federal judges have for the Constitution. He encourages fellow believers to join him in his call for Congress to stop what he says is a "runaway" federal judiciary.
The veteran Christian broadcaster notes that the U.S. Constitution makes it clear that Congress can intervene when federal judges overstep their authority. "The Constitution makes it clear that Congress has the power to limit the appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court," he says. "They can decide what cases it can consider and what cases it can't consider."
Congress has the power to "do all kinds of things," even changing the number of judges, he says -- but has been "very reluctant to use its power."
